Hints & tips for planning weddings on Bribie Island
Ceremony Location & Council Bookings
Once you have chosen your desired ceremony location, you are required to make a booking with our local council ~ Moreton Bay Regional Council. Popular beach and waterfront locations book up fast in peak wedding seasons, so be sure to book your ceremony location early to secure your special location. If you require assistance with choosing a ceremony location, we offer Wedding Planning Island Tours or an online gallery.
Tide & Sunset Times
If you are planning a beach wedding on Bribie Island, it is important to consider the local tide times on either side of the island, in with the timing of your wedding ceremony. If you are also planning on some beautiful sunset photos, you will need to check the sunset times as well, and factor the timing with the ceremony and tides.
Ceremony Location & Directions
Once you have chosen your desired ceremony location and made your council booking, it is a good idea to show your styling company or a friend exactly where you would like your ceremony set up, and how you want it - before the day. Consider your ceremony location directions for your guests, and make it as specific as possible. You can include a map or use local streets / businesses to direct your guests to the right location, you can also use directional wedding signs which are a novel way to be sure everyone knows where to go! See our styling companies to hire these.
Remember to eat!
Amongst all the excitement of the wedding day and preparing to walk down the aisle, remember to eat! You don't want to feel faint or have belly grumbles during your ceremony! We have devised a high tea inspired finger food lunch platter suitable to eat during the wedding preparations! We can deliver the platters to the Bride and/or Grooms preparation location at a time that suits your wedding schedule.
Choosing a Celebrant
When choosing a celebrant for a beach or foreshore wedding it is advisable to choose one that utilises a quality PA system and microphones to ensure all the guests can hear the ceremony in the open air, and over the sound of the ocean. It can also be utilised to play your ceremony music as well. Enquire with your celebrant.
Consider your guests
Beach and outdoor weddings can be hot. Consider your guests will be on location and possibly in the sun for at least a good 1/2 an hour prior to the Brides arrival, so it is a great idea to provide some shade and water. You can do this by providing a drink station with bottled water in ice buckets and market umbrella's, individual parasols or market umbrella's over the ceremony seating.
Have a plan B
Outdoor weddings require a plan B in the case of undesirable outdoor wedding weather! Be sure to check with your reception venue
before your wedding day on their options for an undercover or indoor ceremony. Be sure to have someone in charge of letting the guests and celebrant know of the change to the location at least three hours prior to the ceremony time, to allow for ceremony set up at the new
location.
Beach Wedding Attire
If you are having a beach wedding, you will be walking in the sand, shoes are optional and heels are not a good idea! Brides and Bridesmaids can have flat shoes or bare feet and jewellery sandals, and pop your 'wedding shoes' on once you are off the beach for more photos and the reception. There may also be the chance of a breeze blowing so consider the bridesmaid dresses length wisely!
The day goes by so quickly - be sure to enjoy it!
