Sonya & Travis
24th Ocotber 2015 ~ Bribie Island
Our Love Story
We met in high school, with Travis being a year older. We developed a strong friendship and started dating after I graduated. After almost six years together, Travis proposed on an unforgettable date - 11/12/13, on a jetski (with the ring tied to the inside of his board shorts!) in Phuket, Thailand.
Our wedding was a mixture of vintage and classic touches. My dress was mainly lace, with a champagne beaded sash which tied up into a large bow at the back. The groomsmen wore navy blue, accompanied with the coral bridesmaid dresses which worked beautifully together. The room was decorated with champagne colours, along with gorgeous candle centrepieces. Fabulous Funktions also provided a stunning flower wall backdrop for photographs.
Special or Memorable Moments
We got married on Travis' 26th birthday! They say if it rains on your wedding day, it's meant to be goodluck...well it poured right before I arrived to the ceremony, and stopped as soon as I got there, and held off for the remainder of the afternoon/evening. We were very lucky, and the stormy weather made for a beautiful background in the photos.
How and why did you choose Bribie Island as your wedding destination?
We both grew up in the Lockyer Valley, and moved to Bribe Island together in 2009. We love it here and couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. It's picturesque, and offers a range of wedding locations, whether you want a beach wedding, a church wedding, or a garden wedding.
Your comments on having a Bribie Island wedding and advice for other Bride's and Groom's.
We are so pleased we had our wedding at Bribie Island, there aren't too many other locations that have it all. Our advice would be to get in contact with all of Bribie Island wedding suppliers, as they offer great services at affordable prices. Also, try and be as relaxed as possible with all of the planning, as well as on the day itself, you will enjoy the whole experience so much more if you don't 'sweat the small stuff' because the day is over before you know it.
Special thanks or supplier recommendations
We would like to say a special thanks to all of our suppliers, as without you our day wouldn't have been so special.
We would especially like to thank all of the staff at Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club, who were so accommodating and easy to work with.
Also, very special thanks to Ellen from Fabulous Funktions who decorated the room so beautifully, and gave me plenty of helpful advice when I was indescisive!
We would like to thank Jane Gilbey Photography for being such a fun, friendly and relaxed photographer, which made us feel so much more comfortable.
A huge thank you to Paul and Mark from Rockin U Wild! You provided great entertainment for the evening, and the Photo Booth was a huge success.
Finally, special thanks to Heather from 'Say it With Cake' who not only made a stunning 4 tier wedding cake, but also a real life sized snapper cake for Travis' birthday - so many people thought it was a real fish!
Thank you to everyone for making it a day we will treasure forever.
